SUBWAY® sponsored, multi-sport couple Richard and Elina Ussher competed in the 7th annual XTERRA Triathlon event in Rotorua on Saturday 18th April for the first time.

Richard had a record breaking race taking out 1st place in 2:03hrs, breaking the previous record time (set last year by 70.3 Half Ironman world champ Torrenzo Bozzone) by over 4 minutes. Elina came first in the women’s 21km run with a time of 1:32hrs, over 9 minutes ahead of second place.

Competitors at the annual New Zealand XTERRA Triathlon can choose from walking, running, mountain biking as well as the individual and team XTERRA events. The event attracts more than 2,000 athletes and is considered the world’s largest single day XTERRA off-road triathlon festival.
